Salson Projects

Amid post-graduation and job hunting, I was fortunate to come across a freelancing opportunity. I was approached by a member of my community to help create and write content for their independent business.

Salson Projects is a locally-owned fit-out service provider that offers both commercial and residential fit-outs. Salson specialises in commercial fit-outs, offering services in areas such as industrial, office, retail, hospitality, medical, and health. Mr Imraan Salamahomed is the owner of Salson and tasked me to update and improve the website inclusions, as well as to help him write introductory and engagement letters.

About section and website inclusions.

As my first freelancing project, I was nervous about taking on the work having no prior experience. I was, however, excited at the chance to transfer my skills gained at university to a client. I was happy that Mr Salemohamed had faith in my abilities and I was able to showcase my writing.

Not only did this gig provide me with experience, but it also showed me what working for myself would look like. I was able to establish and set my rates for each task, work independently and work from home. As a creative practitioner, I'm always looking for ways to develop and grow, and this project was a gateway to expanding my skillset and stretching myself as a writer.

A few weeks after this project, Mr Salemohamed sent me another task to do. I said yes, of course. While I'm still new to the freelancing world, I'm hoping to expand my clientele and take on new projects.
